Bulgarian Needlework

Bulgarian Needlework
BULGARIAN NEEDLEWORK
Oriental work done in Constantinople by refugees from Bulgaria. The base fabric was hand woven, coarse black or white cotton cloth. The embroidery was in gold and silver thread and very beautiful, being the same on both sides. The threads and the coloured silk were exceptionally fine, so fine that the pattern did not produce a raised surface.
